WHY FACE EQUALITY MATTERS
• 1 in 10 people worldwide live with a facial difference
• People with facial differences often experience daily discrimination
• Face Equality is a social justice movement ensuring people with facial differences can
live freely without discrimination
• Face Equality International (FEI) is an alliance of 38 nonprofits advocating for face
equality
ABOUT FACING FORWARD
Facing Forward is a Triad-based nonprofit that helps individuals with facial differences contend
with staring and communicate with confidence through:
• Educational workshops
• Peer support programs
• Resources and referrals
• Advocacy for authentic media representation

In 2024, former Governor Roy Cooper issued a proclamation recognizing the need to end stigma and discrimination against individuals with facial differences.
